Message from Rachel

Dear Parent(s),

As nursery director, I want to offer you a warm welcome to RSBC! We believe that children are a precious gift from God, and we want to shepherd and protect them to the best of our ability while they are under our care. We love having children in our service, and we believe that there are fewer things more valuable to children as they learn the Gospel than to be exposed to it while sitting on their parents’ knees among other believers. We do, however, understand that sitting through an entire service can be difficult for very young children, and we want to enable our parents to fully participate in our training hour classes and the corporate gathering. In light of this, we offer nursery services from birth through age 4, and when children reach their fifth birthday we ask parents to incorporate their children into the corporate gathering. We separate these children into three age groups- infant (birth until walking), toddler (generally 1-2 year olds), and preschool (3-4 year olds).

We have taken great care to put multiple safeguards in place to protect the children that are entrusted to us, including a secure check-in and check-out system, accountability (both visual and through numbers) of nursery workers, constant video recording, and other policies and procedures. All of our children’s ministry volunteers are trained in sexual assault awareness and prevention, and all workers must complete a background check prior to serving in our children’s ministries. We keep documentation of all allergies for the children in our care and we use a texting system to alert parents should children need anything.

As the mother of little ones, I understand the desire to have my children with my husband and I as well as the hesitation to let my children make any sound while they’re in the corporate gathering with us. I have been so encouraged by the warm response of those around me towards my children during the corporate gathering. As a church, we want to be mindful that others can come and hear the Gospel preached without distraction, but at the same time, we want to extend grace to the parents around us as they bring their children to hear the same Gospel. This is why we offer our nursery services for our young children, and also why we love to see those same children sitting in the pew with you, as well.

I look forward to meeting you- come join me in my pew with my little ones!

Sincerely,
Rachel

RSBC Child Protection Policy

Safety and Security

We are committed to making your child’s time with us safe and meaningful. We do that by:

  • Making sure each volunteer goes through a criminal background check and receives thorough training.
  • Having a single drop off and pick up area. Parents are required to drop off and pick up their child outside the nursery classroom door.
  • Deploying a security team that monitors the hallways during our services.
  • Giving you and your child matching security tags. This sticker is placed on your child’s back and is matched with a tag given to you. Your child’s security tag also includes information about allergies, should they have any. Children cannot be picked up unless the numbers are matched on these tags.
  • Implementing a texting system so you can be reached if we need to contact you regarding your child.

Nursing Mothers

We have a private room set aside for nursing mothers. This room is set up with a live-stream so you don’t have to miss any of the service to take your of your child.

Children

Our children’s ministry offers an interactive learning environment for children to love Jesus and build relationships. We believe parents are the primary nurturers of their child’s spiritual development, and we take our responsibility seriously in partnering with families to teach children how to find and follow Jesus.

Training Hour classes are provided for:

Ages 3-5
Ages 6-8
Ages 9-11

Curriculum

Knowing Scripture and worshiping God are the focus our children’s ministry. We use two different curriculum to teach our children to become faithful disciples living for the glory of God. They are:

Children Desiring God
This curriculum is used in our toddler class and our middle school class. It is designed to give our students a proper view of God and His purposes. This curriculum builds into our children the simple truths of God and foundational Bible stories. For more information, please see www.truth78.org.

Generations of Grace
This curriculum is used for ages 3-12. Over a 3 year period this curriculum takes the student through the Old Testament and the New Testament. It is designed to give the student a solid understanding of the Scriptures and the main storyline. If a child enters our classes at age 3, by the time they reach their teen years, they will have walked through the whole Bible three times in our GoG classes. For more information, visit www.generationsofgrace.com.

RS Kids

On the third Sunday of each month, we offer a Sunday evening program for our children ages 3 to those in 5th grade. RS Kids is held from 6-7pm and includes music, games, theology, catechisms, and more.

Students

Our student ministry is designed to teach our teens the Word of God and call them to living their lives for God’s glory. Our goal is to help our teenagers see the world, themselves and their purpose the way that God sees them. Classes are offered on Sundays and every other Wednesday.

Sunday

We offer two Training Hour classes for middle school and teens on Sundays at 9:00 a.m. Also, every other Sunday, our Student Ministry Small Group meets from 6-8pm. This is for students from 6th to 12th grade and is a time for building relationships, teaching, and serving opportunities.
